"Our members were enthralled by the energetic and entertaining atmosphere of her presentation. Ms. Weir presented very practical information that our dentists were able to relate to. It is a wonderful thing when a speaker captivates their audience so much that they ask for them back by name, and that is just what Julie Weir does."

Be People Smart…How to Deal with the Four Different "Planets" that People Come From!

People possess a mix of four different behavior traits; dominance (control), extroversion (people), pace (patience) and conformity (systems). One of these traits will be their strongest and dictate 50-70 percent of his or her behavior. Since the strengths and natural responses of each trait are unique and very different from the other traits, it can feel at times like the people you work with are from another "planet" if they do not share your same strongest trait. This is when communication breaks down and conflict occurs on dental team.

When team members understand these four behavior styles, they can communicate, work more effectively and make the best use of each others' strengths which will reduce conflict and increase productivity in the workplace. Causes of team conflict and how to productively solve it will be discussed. These insights will help doctors better manage their employees to keep morale high in the office.

Also, through understanding the communication style of each "planet", team members will learn how to present treatment information in the patient's "language", thus making it easier for the patient to understand, resulting in increased treatment acceptance.
